French international Olivier Giroud has been reassured about his future as the Euros loom.
At 37 years old, Olivier Giroud is still playing at the highest level. And he could continue to do so for several more seasons. The former Montpellier player remains linked to AC Milan and there is talk of him signing a new lease very soon.
It was Giorgio Furlani, general director of the Rossonerro club, who spoke on the subject this Friday, declaring on Sky Sports Italia: “It’s still early to talk about his future but the doors are open if he wants to stay.”
Giroud and Milan, history set to last
This statement comes at a time when the native of Chambéry is having a very convincing season on a personal level. He is currently the number 1 gunner of the Lombard team, with 11 goals scored in 21 Serie A matches. He has also provided 8 assists.
Besides Giroud, the Milanese leader also mentioned the case of the other “Francese” of the team, Mike Maignan. “He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He still has two and a half years of contract. We hope he stays with us for a long time.” Words which must please the former Lille player, especially in this delicate period which is going through with the racist insults of which he was recently the victim.
