After a career spent entirely in England, Jesse Lingard chose a more exotic challenge.
The career of Jesse Lingard is definitely not a long, quiet river. Loaned to four different clubs during the first years of his career, the attacking midfielder then had a very promising start with his training club Manchester United. Exploding at the same time as Marcus Rashford, he seemed promised a bright future with the Red Devils, before the promises gradually faded.
A roller coaster career
If he managed to relaunch himself during a brilliant loan to West Ham (in 2021), the England international (32 caps, 6 goals) never regained a place of choice in Manchester and finally left the club in 2022. And after another lackluster season for Nottingham Forest, the 31-year-old player, who has not played since April 2023 – and almost none of the year -, will soon find grounds away from the Premier League.
This Thursday, Lingard in fact engaged with the FC Seoul (South Korea) for a period of two years. For the first time in his career, he will play outside England.
