Last night, FC Barcelona fell short in the Copa del Rey against Athletic Bilbao after extra time (4-2). An elimination which does not suit Xavi (44), increasingly criticized for the results and the play proposed by his team. Under pressure, the Spanish technician can count on the support of his management.
Indeed, Sport assures that the FCB board maintains its confidence, for the moment, in Xavi. The leaders, notably president Joan Laporta, believe that the club needs stability and that changing coaches now is not a good idea. On the other hand, they will consider whether the Culés are quickly eliminated in the Champions League or are really left behind in La Liga, where the Blaugranas are aiming for at least second place. The former midfielder knows what he has to do to stay in his job.
