Algerian supporters confronted Belmadi players at their hotel in a very tense climate.

Algeria’s new inglorious exit from the group stage of the African Cup of Nations caused tense scenes in Bouaké (Ivory Coast). Several Fennecs supporters waited for the players in front of their hotel to express their anger after the elimination on the first return of the CAN. Some even tried to enter the establishment.

These angry fans above all demanded the resignation of coach Djamel Belmadi by chanting “Belmadi, get out”. Walid Sadi, president of the Algerian Federation, went to meet them. But it was the arrival of the players and staff that sparked the ire of those present. One of the supporters was forcefully ejected by the military while another managed to briefly rush into the hotel grounds before being thrown out in a noxious climate.
