After Lille’s success against Lorient a little earlier in the day (3-0), several interesting posters animated this Sunday in Ligue 1. All eyes were obviously focused on Stade Brestois. Sensation of this first part of the season, the Finistère club began its return phase with the reception of Montpellier. An opponent a priori within the reach of the Bretons on paper, but an awakening to a bitter memory, too, since the Hérault team had inflicted a humiliating 7-0 on Brest on their home ground a year and a half ago.
Brest doesn’t give up!
Eric Roy’s men, however, upheld their standing by signing a valuable success (2-0). This victory took shape in the second half with Magnetti opening the score after returning from the locker room (1-0, 48th) and a break made in stoppage time by Le Douaron (2-0, 90th + 2). A convincing result which allows Brest to climb to the third step of the podium after Monaco’s defeat against Reims on Saturday (1-3).
In the other matches of the day, Nantes faced Clermont with an eleven largely reshuffled after the departures from the CAN. The Canaries were showered at La Beaujoire by an uninhibited and realistic Auvergne team (1-2). Allevinah scored the winning goal at the very end of the match (1-2, 89th), after Mollet (1-1, 47th) responded to Nicholoson (0-1, 29th). Finally, the duel at the bottom of the table between Metz and Toulouse turned to the advantage of Toulouse, with a penalty converted at the start of the match by Sierro (0-1, 11th).
