British Sports Minister Stuart Andrew has described Joey Barton’s comments on women and women’s football as “dangerous” for society and promised to speak out on social media platforms. Speaking to the culture, media and sport select committee, Stuart Andrew said the government “condemned” Barton’s remarks and studied ways to act: “These are dangerous comments that open the floodgates to abuse and that is not acceptable. But I’m always a little wary in these situations that these kinds of people want oxygen and I don’t want to fuel that. I want to testify to the incredible contribution that women and girls make to football and sport in general in this country..

Barton’s repeated misogynistic attacks against women have caused much ink to flow in England. He notably described the TV consultants, Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward, as the “Fred and Rose West of football”, comparing them to this couple of serial killers who raped, tortured and killed 12 young women in their home for almost 30 years. He also accused them of breaking up marriages and having sex to get ahead in their careers. He subsequently justified himself in fighting all ideas and movements that would taint his country, notably Wokism. Without a club since October 26 when he was sacked from Bristol Rovers, Joey Barton is looking for a new challenge to coach.
