Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid seem to share the future of Kylian Mbappé, even if some Premier League clubs seem to want to get involved in this matter.
The consensus seems to be that Mbappé’s future is the same as last week, when he spoke publicly, that no decision has been made. On Sunday evening it was reported that the Frenchman had agreed to join Los Blancos, but this information has not been confirmed in Spain or France since. Journalist Pete Jenson reports that the consensus is actually on the money in this case, and that a deal is far from done.
A salary problem
Real Madrid recently implemented a salary structure, which means that even players like Jude Bellingham signed a contract worth around 10 million euros per year, which is the upper limit of this structure. New contracts must fit within this system, and Mbappé’s high salary demands are currently a stumbling block, with neither side willing to give in.
This could lead to a considerable increase in the signing bonus of around €100 million, or perhaps a heavily incentivized contract, allowing the striker to fit into their salary structure. Currently, the Bondynois’ base salary at PSG is estimated at 25 million euros per year. Despite the distance from the demands, the Whites are in contact with Fayza Lamari, Mbappé’s agent and mother, and there is nothing to suggest that the saga is near its end. Madrid seems confident in the possibility of recruiting Mbappé, without taking for granted that he will sign with him. The team’s good form and Jude Bellingham’s explosion mean the desperation is far less than in 2022, when Los Blancos seemed in search of a star.
