The FC Barcelona infirmary welcomes a new convalescent. Indeed, after Marc-André ter Stegen, Pedri, Gavi and Iñigo Martinez, it is around the Spanish defender Marcos Alonso to join the list of absentees from the first team of Xavi Hernandez, currently fourth in La Liga after 18 days. The 33-year-old left back had to undergo surgery in Bordeaux to treat lower back pain, as the Catalan club announced on its social networks. The duration of his absence, for its part, was not specified.

“The intervention on Marcos Alonso, to resolve his lower back problems, was successful. Doctor Amélie Léglise, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services, was in charge of the operation, at the Bordeaux Mérignac Sports Clinic., we can read in the brief Blaugrana press release. The La Roja international (9 caps) only played 7 small matches in all competitions (including 4 as a starter), often being a substitute behind Alejandro Balde or João Cancelo.
