Pep Guardiola’s men beat Sheffield United (2-0) this Saturday thanks to Rodri and Alvarez.

No problem for Manchester City. The Skyblues did not suffer for their defeat of Sheffield United (2-0), the red lantern of the championship, which did not really exist this Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City is however far from having produced the match of the year, but Pep Guardiola’s men quickly made the difference with a nice goal from Rodri (13th). In the second half, the reigning champions accelerated slightly, to double the lead by Julian Alvarez (61st), on a serve from the in-form man Phil Foden.

Erling Haaland was still absent while Kevin De Bruyne, back in the group after more than four months of absence, remained on the bench. He could play again next weekend in the Cup against Huddersfield.

In the standings, this second success in a row allows Man City to temporarily overtake Arsenal on goal difference, while coming back to two points behind the leader, Liverpool.
