As expected, Hugo Lloris has terminated his contract with Tottenham. The 2018 world champion will soon fly to the United States to sign in Los Angeles.

It’s over for Hugo Lloris! The French goalkeeper has terminated his contract with Tottenham, AFP reported this Saturday morning. The former Lyonnais will leave Spurs on good terms, where he has played more since last spring.

The London club chose to bet on the Italian Guglielmo Vicario, and Lloris, under contract until June 2024, was looking for a way out. Very professional, the former Blues goalkeeper helped his successor during training, while waiting for a new challenge to present itself to him. It’s done: rather than discovering another English club (Newcastle was an option), or returning to France (Lyon or Nice?), Lloris will head to the United States.

A one-year contract with Los Angeles

The 2018 world champion will head to California in a few days, time for him to obtain his visa, and above all to receive the tribute of Tottenham supporters. It will be Sunday afternoon when Bournemouth hosts, and Spurs fans should warmly greet the man who has been their goalkeeper since 2012, and captain for eight years.

According to Nicolo Schira, Lloris will sign for a year with Los Angeles FC, a candidate for the MLS title. There will then be options to extend the adventure, if all goes well.
