Turkish Super Cup canceled at the last second

The Turkish Super Cup between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray was scheduled to kick off this Friday at 6:45 p.m. It will never have been given.

Relocated to Saudi Arabia, to Riyadh, for greater prestige, the event was canceled at the last second – for lack of agreement between the two Istanbul clubs and the local authorities.

Saudi Arabia did not accept that the teams concerned could wear a T-shirt paying tribute to Kemal Atatürk, founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey, to celebrate the centenary of this advent.

Despite tough negotiations all day, nothing happened. Initially, Riyadh had also banned Turkish flags for geopolitical considerations. A nonsense finally lifted. In vain.
