Sometimes it doesn’t take much for the canvas to panic. While Atlético de Madrid managed to achieve a narrow success against Sevilla FC this Saturday (1-0), Spanish international Marcos Llorente saw his name involved in a controversy that was far-fetched to say the least. On his social networks, the only scorer of the match published a photo of his celebration, featuring Sergio Ramos and goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović, helpless and dismayed. A post which sparked the revolt of many Real Madrid supporters, who felt they were taking it for their rank. Under his last Instagram post, Llorente saw the number of comments explode, sparking more than 1,800 reactions, sometimes going as far as insults.

The former Real Madrid player was thus forced to react by indicating that he had absolutely no intention of making fun of his former teammate Sergio Ramos, nor of his former club, Real Madrid: “It’s best to stick to the facts. A photo of the goal, the only one there was, and a Merry Christmas message on Christmas Eve. Honestly, there is no more conversation possible. I have never made fun of a colleague. Happy with the victory and the disconnection for a few days. It’s a shame to have to clarify this, but that’s the way the world is. Once again, happy holidays to all”he wrote.
