FC Barcelona has already chosen Xavi’s replacement!

Is Xavi at risk of being fired in the coming days? This is clearly not the trend. Even if Barça’s situation is a little complicated at the moment, and the reigning champion is 9 points behind Girona, the leader of La Liga, Xavi is not yet particularly in danger. But if the situation does not change when the winter break returns, Joan Laporta could make a drastic decision. The president of the Catalan team also seems to be playing a double game, since although he supports his coach in public, the echoes coming to us from the Catalan press evoke a certain annoyance from the Barcelona boss. It is also said that Xavi was not his first choice at the time…

But we know, in this business, it is the results that take precedence. If last year Barça did rather well with this national title despite a European failure, this season it is off to a very bad start in the league. Xavi and many of his players, currently not in good shape, will therefore have to redress the situation, or there may be casualties… One thing is certain, Joan Laporta does not want to be caught off guard and has already started to prepare post-Xavi, even if, as previously indicated, a departure or dismissal of the coach does not yet seem to be on the cards.

A promising coach

As indicated in the Cadena COPE, the management of FC Barcelona already knows who to entrust the keys to the truck in the event of the departure of the former Barça and La Roja midfielder. The radio explains that it is Rafa Marquez who would be the new Barcelona coach, he who currently coaches Barça B. The former Mexican defender and defensive midfielder, who defended the colors of the club between 2003 and 2010, is currently sixth with the Barcelona’s B team in the Spanish third division, and his work seems to be unanimously accepted internally.

Last season, his team competed in the play-offs for promotion to the second division, but ended up failing. Which did not harm the Mexican, far from it. At the age of 44, he has the qualities required to coach the first team, at least in the eyes of the managers. A disciple of Pep Guardiola, but also influenced by a certain Didier Deschamps whom he knew from Monaco, Marquez fully fits into this coaching profile focusing on the positional game so dear to the Catalans, and he has amply proven to have this famous Barça DNA. It has also allowed a good number of young people to take a step forward, like Marc Guiu, who we have already seen in A. To be continued…
