Disaster for an opponent of the Blues?

Real Madrid lost David Alaba, badly injured in the knee, and it is also Austria which could be deprived of its star captain for Euro 2024, especially during the first match against the France team.

This is the terrible image of the European weekend… During Real Madrid-Villarreal, Sunday evening in La Liga, at the Bernabéu, David Alaba twisted his left knee in a duel with Gerrard Moreno and instantly requested his replacement. The Merengues defender then left the field almost in tears, which gives an unfortunate clue to the seriousness of his injury.

Alaba will obviously take exams in the coming days and the verdict could be dramatic. At best, the former Bayern player suffers from a sprained knee and will have to rest for a few weeks. At worst, he tore one of the ligaments in his left knee and will be sidelined for many months. He would put an end to the rest of the Real season as well as Euro 2024 in Germany (June 14-July 14).

Austria could lose its best player and captain for the European Nations Championship, with a first meeting against the France team on June 17 in Düsseldorf. The Netherlands and the winner of play-off A in March (Wales-Finland against Poland-Estonia) will also make up this group D. The Blues, 2022 world vice-champions, will be the big favorites.
