TF1 star consultant, Bixente Lizarazu did not hesitate to deliver a clear opinion this Sunday morning.

Arriving last summer to take over from Christophe Galtier at the helm of Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique put his paw on the capital clubas much by its very marked playing philosophy – possession football – as by its management.

Bixente Lizarazu was called upon to draw up an initial assessment of the work carried out by the Spanish technician. And the opinion of the 1998 world champion is quite clear-cut. “ The positive already is that he embodies an authority, sometimes in a slightly excessive way, but he is the boss of the team. We criticized PSG a lot for a lack of collective, we have a collective team, an involved group. We also have an identified style of play, with the desire to have the ball. There is therefore an evolution compared to last season“.

PSG is encouraging but…

While he therefore notes positive developments, Lizarazu also points out areas for improvement for the capital club. “ PSG’s shortcomings, particularly in relation to the Champions League, are across the board. For example the attackers, we have a phenomenon, Mbappé, but the others are clumsy and we cannot depend to this extent on Mbappé. The midfielder is a little inexperienced and there are defensive weaknesses. We need to progress at this level. We found the collective, but it may not be enough in the Champions League“, concluded the former defender in Téléfoot.
