After a defeat against Aston Villa, Arsenal revived by beating Brighton at the Emirates (2-0) on Sunday afternoon, while the Villans followed up by overthrowing Brentford (1-2).

This 17th day of the Premier League is catastrophic for Manchester City, who stupidly shared the points with Crystal Palace on Saturday. Sunday afternoon, Arsenal and Aston Villa indeed won their match, against Brighton (2-0) and against Brentford (1-2). These two teams are respectively five and four points ahead of the Cityzens and the Gunners are even leaders pending the meeting of Liverpool against Man United.

Mikel Arteta’s side bounced back from their defeat against Villa by beating Brighton at the Emirates Stadium. A headed goal from Gabriel Jesus, at the start of the second half (53rd), rewarded London’s domination. Kai Havertz doubled the lead at the end of the match (87th). A good performance from Arsenal one week before the summit clash against Liverpool at Anfield!

Aston Villa remains in the title race while Unai Emery’s men were led to Brentford by a goal from Keane Lewis-Potter before half-time (45th). The Villans turned the situation around at the end of the match thanks to goals from Alex Moreno (77th) and Ollie Watkins (85th). The English striker scored his 9th goal after a deflection from Boubacar Kamara. After this first decisive pass of the season, the former Marseillais was excluded following a general altercation at the end of the match (97th). Villa will be able to continue against Sheffield United.
