Present at a press conference before the trip to Mestalla this Saturday evening (9 p.m.) for the 17th day of La Liga, FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez (43) did not hesitate to respond to criticism from the Spanish press and Blaugrana supporters, questioning his legitimacy to lead the new project put in place by Joan Laporta, who called for sacred union on Thursday evening.

“A month ago you asked me if I was going to be the Ferguson of Barça. So I’m going crazy: now I’m on the street. I don’t know where I am. The club needs stability. All the projects of the other teams, when there were turns, stability. We are a winning project. We are defending champions. If we lose or draw in Valencia, we will have stability. This is what we need in the post-Messi era and in a very complicated economic situation.”
