C1: PSG could lose big in the event of elimination

PSG will have no room for error tomorrow during their trip to Germany. As part of this 6th day of the Champions League group stage, the capital club is almost obligated to win against Borussia Dortmund to reach the round of 16. A draw or defeat could mean elimination from the C1 to be transferred to the Europa League. This would be a first since QSI bought PSG in 2011 and a small blow to the finances.

Even if the departures of Neymar, Verratti, Messi, Ramos and Draxler have greatly relieved the payroll, the reigning French champion is scheduled for the big-eared cup. Around €50 million has already been collected for this 2023/2024 campaign and €33 million is still expected to fall thanks to the “market pool”. More than €80 million is therefore expected in Parisian finances but elimination in the group stage would deprive the club of an additional €20 million according to economist Luc Arrondel at Parisian. For comparison, a victory in the Europa League allows you to receive €15 million, compared to €52.7 million for a coronation in C1.
