As the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations approaches in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024, Egypt is brimming with confidence. After a resounding 6-0 victory over Djibouti midweek, the Egyptian national team followed up with another win against Sierra Leone (2-0), with Trezeguet scoring a brace (18th, 62nd) in a World Cup qualifying match. However, the Pharaohs’ triumph was quickly overshadowed by an incident that occurred towards the end of the game.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, although not the star of the show in securing the three points for his team, fell victim to an attempted assault by an opposing fan, as reported by As. A few minutes before the final whistle, a fan jumped from the stands with the intention of confronting the attacker, but was immediately apprehended and taken off the field by security personnel, fortunately with Salah being well-protected by his teammates.
