Manchester United no longer intends to keep its French striker Anthony Martial in its squad.

Anthony Martial’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end. Beyond this season, the former Monegasque will no longer be part of the Red Devils squad. The English club intends to part with him, even if it means not receiving any compensation for his transfer.

Manchester ready to let Martial go free

Martial has a contract with MU which expires at the end of the current season. The decision was made in high places not to extend it. The French international will then become a “free agent”, unless a club positions itself to have him from the winter transfer window. During last summer, the Turks of Fenerbahçe positioned themselves to have him.

Martial is one of the oldest members of the Mancunian squad since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2015. He then cost €60m. Within this prestigious team, he has never been able to establish himself as an indisputable starter. Recurring physical problems have regularly weakened him and slowed down his progress.

Best French scorer in MU history

Casually, the player trained in Lyon will still have played 317 games with the flagship team from the northwest of England. This makes him number 41e the most capped player in United’s history. And in terms of goals, he totals 90. It’s the 17the best total in all eras combined. This is notably better than that of David Beckham (85) and any other French player who has worn the colors of this great club.
