According to his father’s revelations, the new Brazilian crack Endrick was very close to signing up for Chelsea.

Endrick, the new revelation of Brazilian football, signed for Real Madrid for a transfer fee estimated at 60 million euros. But the Palmeiras striker, who will join the White House when he comes of age next summer, could have joined the ranks of Chelsea, the Premier League club. In any case, this is what his father Douglas Sousa revealed, recounting how the transaction with the Blues collapsed during an interview with journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“We received an invitation from Chelsea, from the owner, and we went there to see the club and the country,” he said. We saw Chelsea play against Arsenal and we had the opportunity to see the coach, the facilities, Jorginho, César Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva. They explained everything to us. »

“We were introduced to the person who was going to help us get settled,” Douglas continued. “She showed us the house we were going to live in, the school Endrick was going to attend, the church we were going to attend. Everything was in order for us and Chelsea. »

“However, everything was turned upside down at the last moment,” he added. “I can’t say 100% because I hadn’t signed yet, but the deal was closed. I had already thought I would live in London with all this cold. But one evening my son’s representative called me to tell me that Chelsea’s owner had pulled out of the deal. »

” The reason ? The price he would have had to pay for Endrick would have inflated the market,” he said. “It was 60 million euros in total for a 16-year-old boy who would arrive in the country almost two years later. Then Real Madrid arrived. »
