It was the shock of this Saturday in Serie A. Although ninth in the standings, Atalanta Bergamo hosted AC Milan, third, in a match that both teams had to win. Dominant and having possession of the ball in the first half, the Rossoneri were unable to make the difference against the tenacious Bergamasques defensively. It is also Gian Piero Gasperini’s men who will make the difference first thanks to Ademola Lookman (1-0, 38th). Milan finally caught up just before half-time thanks to the inevitable Olivier Giroud, scorer of his 8th goal this season in Serie A (1-1, 45+3rd).

Returning from the locker room, the match got off to an exciting start. The insatiable Lookman, untenable this evening, put Atalanta back in front just before the hour mark (2-1, 55th). Charles de Ketelaere, who faced the team from which he is on loan, was close to burying the Lombards (58th). And while Mike Maignan was the author of a fantastic save a few minutes earlier, AC Milan returned to the game a second time thanks to Luka Jovic’s point-blank finish (2-2, 79th). We were heading towards a draw which did not suit anyone but the last moments of the match were ultimately epic. While Davide Calabria, the Rossoneri captain, was sent off for a second yellow card (90+3rd), Luis Muriel, launched by Gasperini in the 82nd minute, assassinated the Milanese in the last minutes of added time with a clever backheel of law (3-2, 90+5th).
