The top-of-the-table Serie A clash between Atalanta and AC Milan on Saturday was won by Bergamo (3-2, 15th day). Olivier Giroud’s goal was not enough for the Milanese.

Title holders in Serie A, AC Milan are seeing their chances of retaining their possession dwindle. If it will retain its third place in the standings at the end of the fifteenth day of the championship, the Rossonero club could be up to nine points behind Inter Milan, if the latter were to win at home against Udinese. For the Milanese, the end of the afternoon was not good since they lost on the field of Atalanta (3-2).

After conceding a first goal from Lookman (1-0, 38th), the visitors nevertheless managed to come back to the level, thanks to the header scored by Giroud, a few moments before returning to the locker room (1-1, 45th+ 3). But the recovery was not good for the latter who once again saw Lookman find the fault (2-1, 55th). Thanks to their ability to react, the Milanese regained the score a second time through Jovic (2-2, 80th). But everything ultimately went wrong for Milan in injury time.

Quickly forget

First following the second yellow received by Calabria, synonymous with expulsion for him (90th + 3). Then and finally, when Muriel found the fault to put Bergamo in front for the third and last time of the game (3-2, 90th + 5). This success allows Atalanta to return to victory after three defeats and a draw in Serie A, and to temporarily climb to seventh place. For AC Milan, they will have to try to quickly forget this defeat to refocus on Wednesday’s crucial match against Newcastle, in the Champions League.
