It is a stadium which inevitably brings back bad memories to supporters of the French team after the match between the FRG and the Blues during the 1982 World Cup. This Monday, during the club’s general assembly, Sevilla FC announced the renovation of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium. A change which comes after the needs of the club and the supporters to bring this setting up to date. The latter will also be made up of 55,000 places whereas it currently only has 43,883. Like the Groupama Stadium in France, this renovation is part of a more global desire by allowing the stadium to welcome people all year round for activities other than the simple fact of attending a football match.

In its press release, the Andalusian club gave more explanations on this renovation: “Sevilla FC announced this Monday, during the General Meeting of Shareholders, its preliminary project for a new Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium. The Nervionense club wishes to respond to a historic and necessary request from its supporters and adapt its facilities to current times. The new Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán has the commitment and the need to be a place prepared for 21st century football, located in the same place where the current stadium is located after the demolition of the previous one, without forgetting the history of the place, the Nervión neighborhood and respect the moments of glory that the current Stadium has given to Seville fans. But at the same time, it combines a new air, new resources and new comforts for the Sevillians and for the entity, which wants to make the new stadium one of the cornerstones of its strategic plan.» All that remains is for the general assembly to approve this plan.
