It was during a match against Caen in 2015 that the Bondynois made his debut in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco. While the Normans had just equalized through Ronny Rodelin, the young Mbappé was launched in the 88th minute, in place of Fabio Coentrao.

Born on December 20, 1998, Mbappé was then 16 years old, and at that time became the youngest player to wear the ASM jersey in Ligue 1, a record stolen from a certain Thierry Henry. He entered on the left wing, to try to dynamite the Caen defense. That season, the prodigy would play 11 league matches, scoring his first goal against Troyes on February 20, 2016.
It was the following season that Mbappé really exploded with Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco, champion of France and semi-finalist of the Champions League. He will be transferred to PSG in 2017. Now, the 2018 world champion has 188 Ligue 1 matches, for 162 goals and 50 assists. He finished top scorer in the championship five seasons in a row, while being voted best player of the season four times. He will probably ultimately be considered the greatest player in the history of the French championship, if that is not already the case.
