Montpellier, the double punishment

The championship match to be replayed between Montpellier and Clermont resulted in a draw this Wednesday at La Mosson (1-1).

This will certainly be a difficult pill to swallow for the MHSC. On October 8, the Montpellier side were leading 4-2 against their Clermont counterparts when in added time an idiot injured the Auvergne goalkeeper, Mory Diaw, by throwing a big firecracker onto the pitch. A gesture which earned both teams the postponement of the meeting, and a penalty point for the Pailladins.

This point, the men of Michel der Zakarian, who saw red this day by losing his nerves from his bench, have certainly taken it back; but there are indeed three units that the Héraultais are missing at the end of the race. The double penalty, in a way, for Montpellier who could not do better than a 1-1 draw this Wednesday behind closed doors.

A mess of injuries

Surprised at the start of the match by a superb long shot from Maxime Gonalons (7e), the MHSC snatched the share of points on a penalty converted by Téji Savanier (87e). Not without losing Maxime Estève, Jordan Ferri and Théo Sainte-Luce to injuries during the match. Clermont in the end remains 17e and penultimate, two lengths from the waterline. Montpellier, with three more units on the clock, is 13e.
