Faced with the controversies sparked by VAR, the president of Stade Brestois, Denis Le Saint, took a radical decision.

Stade Brestois has decided to take matters into its own hands. Increasingly critical of video refereeing, the Breton club, which had already expressed its disagreements on several occasions, will take action.

The president, Denis Le Saint, will send a letter to Vincent Labrune, the president of the LFP (Professional Football League) so that it can take action with the aim of removing the tool, if we are to believe The Team.

This decision comes after several weeks of criticism from players and managers of SB29, in particular from Nice coach Eric Roy who complained after his team’s victory in Montpellier (1-3) on Sunday. The Ligue 1 club believes that VAR is too often used to award unfair penalties, as was the case during the defeat against Monaco (2-0) last November.

The removal of video assistance to refereeing is a request which, however, has little chance of succeeding. However, the request from Stade Brestois shows that the tool is not free of defects, it is therefore urgent to find solutions to make it more effective and less controversial.
