Retired since October, Eden Hazard confided that he could have signed in Saudi Arabia but that he did not need to.
Despite an end to his career marked by three failed seasons at Real Madrid, Eden Hazard will remain one of the most notable players of his generation, particularly during his time at Chelsea. Hampered by numerous repeated injuries, the Belgian international has decided to retire at just 32 years old in October 2023.
No need for Saudi millions

The former captain of the Red Devils explained his decision to John Obi Mikel, whom he worked with during his time at Chelsea. Despite incredible offers from Saudi Arabia, where many big players left last summer, the native of La Louvière assured that he did not need more money than he already has. “He said to me: ‘I already have so much money, I don’t need a million a week.’ And then, we also know how he lives, he doesn’t spend a lot of money. What mattered to him was having enough to live with his family and raise his children.”explained Mikel to Rio Ferdinand in the podcast Vibe with five.
Hazard had in fact explained that he preferred to live as simply as possible, based on “bicycle outings and golf courses”.
