As expected for several months, Angel Di Maria will stop with Argentina at the end of the next Copa America.
Sole scorer in the Copa America final against Brazil in 2021 then scorer against the Blues in the World Cup final against the Blues in 2022, Angel Di Maria has a lot to do with Argentina’s recent successes.
But at 35, the time for international retirement will soon come for the former Parisian. The man who has scored 29 goals in 135 appearances has in fact decided to put an end to his adventure with the Albiceleste after the Copa America which will be played next summer in the United States.
“The decision has been made. The Copa America will be my last major international competition. These choices are complicated and difficult to make, but a new generation is emerging. I know I could continue playing in the national team, but I don’t want to take the place of young players who have great potential.”he explained on the Talks at Google podcast.
