Dismissed last winter from her position as coach following the putsch launched by Wendie Renard, Corinne Diacre had already suffered a violent attack from Amandine Henry in November 2020.
This November 15 will mark a painful anniversary for Corinne Deacon, to say the least. It will be three years since Amandine Henry’s punchy interview in front of the Canal Football Club cameras. An interview during which the then captain of the Blues publicly settles accounts with her coach, who did not summon her for the matches played in October.
A non-summons experienced by a bruise by the native of Lille. “She’s the coach, she makes choices. But when she called me to warn me, the call lasted 14 or 15 seconds, I will remember it all my life. Frankly, this phone call shocked me, she asserts. She told me: ‘Amandine you know that the list comes out tomorrow and you won’t be there based on your current performance’. I told him ‘Okay, good match, goodbye’. That’s all. If it’s a sporting choice you try to re-mobilize your player, but this discussion hurt me. Plus, in terms of sport, I feel really good. »
But according to Amandine Henry, Corinne Diacre’s decision to do without the services of her captain is in no way a sporting choice. “I think it’s beyond sports, says the Lyonnaise. I think it happened the week when President Le Graët came to Lyon when we won the Champions League. It’s been a while since all the girls, from Lyon and elsewhere, have been giving bad feedback about the coach. The arrival of the president was a godsend for us, we told each other what was wrong. I think the president made a phone call to her afterwards, which she must have had difficulty digesting. I think that’s where the problem comes from.” she says.
I saw girls crying in their room
And the midfielder continued by saying all the discomfort of the players in the selection. “Already after the World Cup, the coach wanted to do individual interviews, I told her during this interview that I had not been 100% fulfilled during the World Cup,” remembers Henry. Sportingly but also humanly, because I saw girls crying in their rooms. It happened to me too. It was total chaos”she says, adding that the relationship of trust between the team and the player is broken: ” Unfortunately yes. »
This vitriolic outing has only one goal according to Amandine Henry: to make things happen. “Maybe we should have tried to talk to her more, I’m questioning myself too, she whispers, adding: “We have to say things to each other. I would like us all to get together around a table and put everything together to win this title. Let’s talk football, pitch, victories and ambitions. »
Wishful thinking. Because if Corinne Deacon will recall Amandine Henry three days later despite her violent criticism, judging “unacceptable to make a spectacle of personal quarrels”, the big explanation will never take place and the Lyonnaise would finally be dismissed by the coach a few months later.
