The former FC Barcelona and Liverpool scorer, now at Grêmio Porto Alegre, showered John Textor’s Botafogo where nothing is going well.

Luis Suarez still knows how to be useful. Thursday evening (Brazilian time), the 36-year-old center forward scored a decisive hat-trick on the Botafogo pitch to give Grêmio a 4-3 victory on the 33rd day of the D1 Championship in Brazil .

The Uruguayan center forward and captain of the Porto Alegre club, author of 14 goals in 28 Serie A matches, weighed down Botafogo a little more, one of the clubs belonging to the group led by the American John Textor (with OL and Molenbeek in particular).

The Rio de Janeiro team, although still leading the standings (tied on points with their opponent of the day), recorded a fourth consecutive defeat against Grêmio. The teammates of the Spaniard Diego Costa (35), scorer in the 6th minute (1-0), led 3-1 before giving in to Luis Suarez (50th, 53rd, 69th).

A rout reminiscent of that which occurred eight days earlier, still at home. On November 2, the team coached by Lúcio Flávio led 3-0 in front of Palmeiras before conceding four goals (3-4) including a double from Endrick, 17 years old and resident of Real Madrid from July 2024.

This match had made John Textor furious. The Botafogo boss was suspended for 30 days for this trip.
