OM-OL: The stone attack experienced from inside the Lyon bus

This Monday evening, OL published images from the camera of the stoned bus approaching the Vélodrome on Sunday in Marseille.

The cancellation of the match of the 10e day of L1 between Marseille and Lyon was unfortunately inevitable. This Monday evening, 24 hours after the events, OL published a video of the stone attack suffered by the Les Gones bus before its arrival at the Vélodrome stadium.

We discover in these images the convoluted route of the Lyon bus, certainly escorted by police vehicles but forced to follow an unusual journey of more than half an hour to reach the Boulevard Michelet enclosure due to work.

Dark and not necessarily clear, the images nevertheless allow us to see dozens of individuals massed on the side of the road, and the numerous slowdowns linked to traffic which have made the Rhône bus an easy target for troublemakers.

As we get closer to the stadium, there are only two real options left. The third is Boulevard Michelet but it is not a good idea. (…) We could sterilize a large part of Marseille’s activity: public transport stopped, bars closed, etc. But there is a reasonable balance to find. I find it difficult to see what more can be done. Such a stone attack has already happened 15 km from the stadium. »

According to the first observations of the public prosecutor of Marseille Nicolas Bessone, the authorities have not failed. “ The device makes me think that there is no failure. When there are complete deficiencies, it suits me very well to seek responsibility. But the first person responsible is the one who sees the Lyon players’ bus, which grabs stones, a smoke bomb… That’s the responsibility. At this stage, I have nothing to suggest that there is a failure in the security system. »
