The hierarchy of Italian sport is experiencing a historic upheaval. According to La Gazzetta dello Sportthe Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) now has 1,162,477 members, thus surpassing the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), which has 1,123,054. A gap of nearly 40,000 members which marks an unprecedented turning point in a country where football traditionally occupies a central place.

For the first time in history, tennis is ahead of football in Italy in terms of number of licensees. This progression reflects the growing enthusiasm for the little yellow ball, driven by the performances of Italian players on the international scene. A strong symbol for transalpine tennis, which now stands out as the sport with the most licensees in the country, ahead of the sport that was once king.
