Stade Rennais had to settle for a frustrating draw against Strasbourg this Sunday (1-1).
Stuck in the soft underbelly of the ranking, Stade Rennais continues to tread water. Opposed to Strasbourg, a team in decline, the Breton club had to settle for a parity score which really does not do its business, three days after its European games.
Bruno Genesio’s men started this match in the best possible way. Shortly after a quarter of an hour of play, Adrien Truffert broke the deadlock with a victorious cross shot (1-0, 22nd). Lightning in the desert. Because this choppy match was marked by its numerous technical approximations.
Rennes misses the boat
The Rennes did not manage to make the break during a boring first act. And the pace was not more sustained after returning from the locker room. Lacking creativity and efficiency in the last gesture when the first shift was made, Rennes left Strasbourg alive. Vieira’s gang didn’t ask for that much. And ten minutes from the end, Lebo Mothiba, an opportunist, equalized by recovering a ball released by Steve Mandanda following a first shot from Kevin Gameiro.
Rennes remains eighth in the standings. Strasbourg is in fourteenth place.
