Stade Rennais lost on the Lorient pitch this Sunday as part of the 9th day of L1 (2-1).
Beaten at home by PSG before the international break (1-3), Rennes was unable to rectify the situation in Lorient this Sunday, on behalf of the 9e lifting of Ligue 1. On the pitch at Moustoir, Bruno Genesio’s men lost 2-1, suffering a second consecutive setback for the first time this season.
Of course the visitors, with 70% ball possession and credited with 20 shots on the opponent’s goal – compared to 5 – dominated the debates. Only the Merlus were more realistic and sharp in the zone of truth. Well helped by the unfortunate Omari, author of a gag goal against his camp from the 4e minute of play.

Blas was able to respond quickly for the Reds and Blacks, well served by Gouiri (1-1, 21ste), the Lorientais regained the lead just before the break thanks to Touré, the defender reaching 2.06m who arrived this summer from OM, with a nicely adjusted exterior in the area (2-1, 45e+2). The final blow for Rennais who thus remain confined to 8e elite level – provisionally that is. Lorient for its part extricates itself from the red and comes back only one length behind its opponent of the day.
