Iranian justice has just handed down a sentence against the Portuguese star following his last visit to the country.
Cristiano Ronaldo will remember his trip to Iran last month for a long time. During his short stay in Tehran, the Portuguese allegedly committed a reprehensible act and which has just been condemned by the local courts.
99 lashes handed down against Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo traveled to Tehran last September, with Al-Nasr, to face Iranians Persepolis in the first round of the group stage of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League. During this visit, the Portuguese star met the Iranian painter Fatima Hamami, who suffers from an 85% physical disability.
This meeting took place at the request of Fatima herself, who wanted to offer the 38-year-old Al-Nasr striker a painting that she had drawn especially for him.
However, it seems that this meeting caused big problems for Ronaldo, as the Iranian network “Sharq Emroz” announced that a number of lawyers had filed a complaint against the player. The channel revealed that lawyers accused Cristiano of touching Fatima’s body while kissing her. This amounts to “adultery” under Iranian law.
According to the same channel, Iranian justice sentenced Cristiano Ronaldo to “99 lashes”, which will be applicable as soon as he enters Iranian territory again. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner would therefore be better off not returning to this country if he wants to avoid getting whipped.
