Paris Saint-Germain can breathe, Kang-in Lee too. On Saturday, South Korea beat Japan in the final of the Asian Games (2-1). A crucial victory for the Koreans who won the competition for the third consecutive edition. But beyond the title won, Kang-in Lee’s teammates offer themselves quite a respite: the reduction of their military service. Like Son Heung-min before, the PSG attacking midfielder sees his compulsory military service reduced from a minimum duration of 18 months to only 3 weeks.

“I am happy to have achieved my goal with the selection. I felt and lived every moment. It was a good feeling”, the Korean simply responded to local media after the victory. But the consequences are immense for Kang-in Lee who will therefore be able to focus fully on his football and on his club, avoiding going to training camps for many weeks to follow his military training. As a reminder, this is compulsory in South Korea for all able-bodied men aged between 18 and 28.
