The (small) fear of Manchester City

Trailing at the break, Pep Guardiola’s men finally dominated Red Star Belgrade (3-1) during the first day of the Champions League.

Reigning European champion and favorite to succeed, Manchester City began its new Champions League campaign with a success against Red Star Belgrade (3-1) at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite a first period with 22 shots to 1, the Skyblues were nevertheless trailing 1-0 at the break, punished by a victorious counter from former Nantes player Osman Bukari (45th).

But Pep Guardiola’s men rectified the situation in the second half and their enormous domination (70% ball possession, 37 shots, 16 on target) was rewarded by a double from Julian Alvarez (47th, 60th) and a goal from Rodri (73rd).

Man City thus takes the lead in its group with Leipzig, who won on the field of Young Boys Bern (1-3) earlier in the day.
