Spanish women’s football is still in the midst of a scandal. Thirty-nine players, including the majority of world champions, refused to return to the selection.

It is this Friday that Montsé Tomé, the new Spain coach, should unveil her very first list. But this announcement was postponed, because 39 players, including a large number of world champions, warned the Spanish federation that they refused to return to the selection.

Despite the change of coach, and the legal drama that begins for president Luis Rubiales (who kissed the player Jenni Hermoso), the Spanish internationals are still demanding change.

Among their demands: Restructuring the organization of women’s football, Restructuring the office of the presidency and the Secretary General,Resignation of the president of the RFEF (the Spanish federation, editor’s note), Restructuring of the communication and marketing division, Restructuring of the integrity department.

The problem is deep because, a few months before the World Cup, the players had tried in vain to get coach Jorge Vilda to leave. The latter ultimately remained in post, and led La Roja to the world title, but he was replaced immediately.
