Not convinced by Gennaro Gattuso, John Textor, the owner of OL, contacted Fabio Grosso and it is indeed the left side who passed through Les Gones who will succeed Laurent Blanc!

The soap opera with twists and turns visibly ended this Wednesday evening. After a week of uncertainty, OL reached an agreement with Fabio Grosso for the position of coach, as revealed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 45-year-old technician, who spent with Les Gones from 2007 to 2009, French-speaking since then, will succeed Laurent Blanc at the head of the team led by Alexandre Lacazette. All that’s missing is the signature.

Textor played a very nasty trick on Gennaro Gattuso. After having suffered refusals from Graham Potter and Oliver Glasner, and without news from Habib Beye (blocked by Red Star), the American owner of Olympique Lyonnais offered the position to Gattuso, although he was not highly rated after mixed experiences at Milan and Napoli. However, this lead was not unanimous internally and the businessman from Florida suddenly resumed his search.

Grosso, who was Serie B champion with Frosinone (before leaving the club despite promotion to the elite), is quickly expected in Lyon and could take control of the team before the next meeting of the bottom of the championship against the Havre, Sunday evening (8:45 p.m.). Jean-François Vulliez, former director of the Academy, Jérémie Bréchet, U19 coach, and Sonny Anderson, OL Groupe advisor, are currently acting as interim manager.
