Luciano Spalletti, the new coach of Italy, spoke about the case of Marco Verratti.
Italian coach Luciano Spalletti has denied reports that Marco Verratti refused to be selected.
Verratti ready to help the Squadra
Verratti is currently in Doha to sign with Al-Arabi. Even if he has turned his back on the highest level on the club scene, he keeps his ambition intact in relation to international competitions.
Spalletti said, “I couldn’t call everyone, but I called someone. I called him (Verratti). He said he was glad I called him, (Leonardo) Bonucci said the same thing. Despite all the difficulties, they would like to help the national team. Here’s what they said.
“I want to involve everyone, even if there is a project to move forward and the priority is to qualify,” continued Roberto Mancini’s successor.
The presence of Verratti would certainly be of great benefit to the Squadra Azzurra. With his 55 capes, he would offer experience to a team that is sorely lacking in it.
