FC Lorient clearly affirms its ambitions for this end of the transfer window.
FC Lorient lovers would hardly have imagined such an exciting end of summer a few weeks ago. After having already surprised the world of football by securing the services of Benjamin Mendy a few weeks ago, the Breton club seems determined to attract big names to supervise its young workforce.
A first big blow concerns the versatile midfielder Donny van de Beek. Lorient would have reached an agreement with the Manchester United board for the loan of the Dutch international. Régis Le Bris could use a player keen to relaunch his career after a generally failed spell in the Premier League. But Van de Beek, 26, may not be the only high-profile name to land in western France by Saturday.
According to information from Foot Mercato, FC Lorient is in advanced discussions with Salvatore Sirigu. The former PSG goalkeeper would have agreed to take on a substitute costume behind number 1 Yvan Mvogo. From the top of his 36 years, the Italian would bring all his experience of the very high level. He has the advantage of knowing Ligue 1 after his time at PSG during the first phase of the QSI era, alongside players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva, to whom he was close. Seriously injured last season, Sirigu must nevertheless offer guarantees on his physical condition. The Italian goalkeeper is currently training in the facilities of Fiorentina.
