This is one of the bombs of the day. This Thursday morning, Thibaut Courtois suffered a knee injury in training. The Belgian goalkeeper suffers from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. He should be operated on in the next few days. A blow for Real Madrid who will have to review their plans this summer.

Plans that could lead the Madrid club to position themselves on a new goalkeeper to compensate for the very likely long absence of the Belgian international. According to information from Sky Sports, the Meringues would have made contact with the Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea for an arrival during this summer transfer window.

Without a club since his free departure from Manchester United several weeks ago, the Madrid option would be perfect for the Spain international. At 32, the former Mancunian has still not found a new project to give new impetus to his career.

If the track were to become clearer, the Spanish goalkeeper could finally wear the tunic of the Casa Blanca. Indeed, the former Colchoneros player had seen his transfer fall through in the summer of 2015 because of a fax story sent too late during the very last hours of the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid are expected to step up their search in the coming days. The ex-Red Devils goalkeeper doesn’t seem to be the only one on Real Madrid’s shortlist.
