Kylian Mbappé made a sacrifice of 200 million euros by not triggering his extension clause at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old is the protagonist of the summer’s biggest transfer saga after it was revealed he has decided not to extend his contract until 2025, meaning he will be free next summer.

This decision outraged PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi who decided to ban the player from Luis Enrique’s first team. With the Frenchman having been officially placed on the transfer list, there have been many rumors circulating about the possibility of a club signing him this summer. Al-Hilal made a record bid of €300m which was duly accepted by the Parisians but rejected by the goalscorer.

The star striker has no intention of leaving Paris this season and it’s clear he’s even ready to sacrifice a year of his career to secure his free transfer to Real next summer. French media are reporting that, if Mbappé stays, he won’t play with PSG in the next season.

But it turns out that the simple fact of refusing to trigger his extension was already a huge sacrifice…
