Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix has spoken about his future to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, but not to his coach Diego Simeone.
The Portuguese striker declared in July that he wanted to join FC Barcelona, but since then nothing has been done to organize a possible transfer. At this stage, it’s an open secret that both club and player would be happy to find a way out, but the striker’s high wages make it difficult to find a destination.
” No“, replied Simeone when asked if he had discussed the future of Felix with the player in an interview with brand.
” No, I am not going to talk about Joao more than what I have already said”, he began when asked about it.
Simeone, however, dismissed the idea that Felix wasn’t giving his all for the Colchoneros.
“What he gives us or has given us is what we have seen (in terms of effort). I don’t think he held back what he could give. I behaved the same way with him, trying to do my best to get something from him. It is possible that in his search he needs something more… and it is he, his agents and the club who will decide”.
Simeone also didn’t want to speculate on the reasons why Felix spoke publicly about his desire to join Barcelona.
” Like I always say, the best way to find out is when it’s his turn to speak. He will know the reasons”.
But Simeone wouldn’t be unhappy if Felix stayed at Atlético this summer either.
“I want to win, no matter who is there to achieve the goal.”
