After long months of negotiations, Manchester United should be bought by Qatar, via Sheikh Jassim.
It’s coming a little late, but the sale of Manchester United will finally happen in the coming weeks. As advertised The Sun Saturday, the takeover of the Red Devils should be completed in November between the Glazer family, owner since 2005, and Sheikh Jassim Ben Hamad Al Thani. Transaction price? No less than 6 billion pounds sterling, or nearly 7 billion euros!
The Emir of Qatar, Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani, already owner of PSG, has dreamed for a while of playing the leading roles in the Premier League (especially after the takeover of Newcastle by Saudi Arabia). The project was entrusted to Sheikh Jassim, a member of the royal family and president of the Qatar Islamic Bank, a company whose main shareholder is the sovereign wealth fund (which owns the PSG).
The American siblings launched the sale process in November 2022 and will leave a debt of one billion pounds (without ever having injected money into the accounts of the residents of Old Trafford). British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe was on pole for a long time before the fabulous offers from Qatar. Note that Erik ten Hag, the coach in place, was consulted and should be part of the project piloted from Doha.
