After the departure of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba to Miami, FC Barcelona will now enter the new season without executives. While the two Spaniards, who won a slew of trophies in Catalonia, have left, the hierarchy of club captains has been turned upside down. Sergi Roberto having been named the Catalans’ captain, his two vice-captains will be Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong.

An honor for the Dutch midfielder who expressed his pride at the microphone of Spanish journalists: “It is an honor to be one of the captains of this club. I’m very happy about it.On leaving a few months ago, De Jong is one of Barça’s most important men in the eyes of Xavi.
