Lionel Messi has already had a big impact on training at Inter Miami, according to Robert Taylor, with the Argentine flaunting his ‘incredible’ talent.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or has already become one of the centerpieces of MLS, alongside his former FC Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. He only appeared once on the bench for Inter Miami, but he scored that chance with a free kick in stoppage time to seal the 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul in the inaugural League Cup.

Messi has been leading by example since finding new employers in America, his relentless pursuit of excellence rubbing off on those around him.

The Finland international – who scored Inter Miami’s other goal against Cruz Azul – told The Independent about his work with what many consider the greatest player of all time: “It’s amazing, it’s great, of course I’m excited. He has just arrived and has brought a lot of energy to the team. His game allows him to make the right decisions all the time in training and in matches, that’s why it’s so good. It’s a great feeling. Also how to win. Seeing that free kick and the quality it brings to the team is amazing. »

An amazing player

Taylor moved from Lincoln Moorlands Railway’s team to World Cup-winning Messi’s side and the 28-year-old midfielder fulfilled his own dream. ” If someone had told me a few years ago, when I was on the bench at Lincoln Moorlands, that I was going to play with Busquets and Messi, I would have laughed in their face. I was sitting on the bench, I couldn’t gain minutes in the league and the coach was telling me that I wasn’t strong enough or not good enough. I was sitting on the bench and watching. It tested me when I was younger. I would call my parents in Finland and tell them that maybe I should look for something, other options. »
