Former coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich and Monaco, Niko Kovac has a wealth of experience on the bench. Dismissed from his duties on the Rock in January 2022, the 51-year-old technician has since bounced back to Wolfsburg. With an encouraging eighth place last season, the native of Berlin has an overview of the Bundesliga and has seen the championship evolve for years.

In a long interview with Wolfsburger Allgemeine ZeitungNiko Kovac expressed his concern for the future of the championship across the Rhine:There is a contrast with French football, which puts a lot of emphasis on technical football. The Bundesliga has lost something. We have to catch up there. It was once said that France had the fifth championship in terms of quality. Now I have been to France and I have to say the football there is really good and we have to be careful not to fall behind in the Bundesliga.“For the German-Croatian technician, it is therefore clear: Ligue 1 is overtaking the Bundesliga.
