Mikel Arteta suggests Arsenal aren’t done with business, despite the signings of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber.
Arsenal have made a strong impression in the current transfer window, breaking the club record with the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham for £105million.
The Gunners have also secured the services of Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Ajax’s Jurrien Timber, topping the £200m mark in summer transfer spending. However, transfers from Arsenal are set to continue as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen the squad, with the aim of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
” We will see. There is still a lot of time in the market and a lot of expectations for some of our players,” said Arteta.
” We have to see how things evolve in the next two weeks. We will be vigilant. There is still time to do things and there is still time for departures of course. I’m sure things will change.”
Arteta’s comments indicate that Arsenal’s transfer activity may not be over. Departures have already taken place, notably that of Granit Xhaka, and other players like Folarin Balogun and Thomas Partey continue to generate interest. Besides, players like Nicolas Pepe and Cedric Soares could no longer be part of the club’s plans and be on the verge of leaving.
